Bristol Rovers book Wembley trip
Bristol Rovers charged into the League Two play-off final, with a comprehensive win over rivals Lincoln City. After gaining the advantage in a 2-1 first leg home win, Rovers romped to a 5-3 win away at Lincoln, to make it 7-4 on aggregate. Even as a Bristol City fan, I couldn't help but admire their play in the second leg, where their attacking play was superb and the goals well taken. The opener of the evening was an absolute beauty that could have graced any game.
Hopefully the gas will go on to win at Wembley and gain promotion to League One, which is more befitting of the quality they showed in front of the Sky cameras. I have to say I am impressed by the team as a whole, as well as some individual players, especially the forward players. Paul Trollope is quickly making a name for himself as an up and coming manager, although Lennie Lawrence has probably played a large part of their success this season.
Rovers will face either MK Dons or Shrewsbury at Wembley, who play this evening. It is becoming widely known that Bristol Rovers will join Chelsea as one of two clubs to play a final at both the Millennium Stadium and at Wembley in the same season. Remember that for the obscure Question of Sport or Trivial Pursuit sporting questions.
Well done Gas. Now do Bristol football proud and come back from Wembley victorious. You have the momentum and going by the what I've seen, the ability, to go to Wembley and turn over your rivals. Just don't go bottling it, eh? Good luck.
